Gunners shoot themselves in the Foot!

Updated: Jul 26, 2021

#LeicesterCity came away from the #Emirates on a rather damp and cold evening for early #July with a credible point after a #Vardy equaliser, the #LCFC striker getting on the end of a lovely cross from #Grey to make it 1-1 and 22 goals now for the season after another long wait from #VAR.

#LCFC who had 63% possession overall started brightly and were without 3 key international players, #Maddison, #Chilwell and #Periera who were all injured and did not feature in the squad. They lined up with 3 centre backs and a wing back pairing of #Albrighton and #Justin, but as the half went on #Arsenal started to exploit the weaknesses down our flanks and had a 20 minute spell when they could have scored 3 but only got 1 goal from #Aubameyang thanks yet again to the goalkeeping of #Schmeichel.

But #Leicester hit back and continued to press and #Iheanacho who had another fine game had the ball in the net for the 3rd time in 3 games but the goal was ruled out for a rather innocuous challenge by the striker on an #Arsenal defender who looked to me like he was trying to block him but failed.

There were no changes at half time which was surprising given our lobbed sided defence. But #Rodgers made a double substitution on the 59th minute when #Fuchs came on to provide a better balance in defence. #Leicester were seeing a lot more of the ball and beginning to threaten again, and then the game swung in #Leicester's favour when substitute #Nketiah who had only be on the field for 2 minutes and never touched the ball, was sent off for a potentially dangerous challenge on #Justin, again #VAR taking an eternity to decide on the red card.

With a man down, #Leicester's possession grew and became more threatening and on 84 minutes, #Vardy timed his run to perfection to get on the end of #Gray's cross and grab the equaliser.

#Arsenal hung on, whilst #LCFC went in search of a winner and it looked like only one team would nick another. But it was not to be and it ended all square and the wait for a win away at #Arsenal goes on! See the official match report here.
