No Wembley Date for #Leicester

Updated: Jul 26, 2021

#Chelsea dumped #Leicester out of the #FaCup with a well worked goal from #Barkley on 63 minutes but it could have been so different had #Leicester converted a host of chances in the first half. #Chelsea made a number of changes and began with an untried back four. As early as the first minute #Barnes wasted a great chance by losing control of the ball in the box, #Vardy, #Ndidi and #Evans all should have done better but none really tested the keeper.

However, the most clear cut chance of the half fell to #Chelsea and #Leicester had #Kasper yet again to thank for keeping it goalless and half time.

#Chelsea who had defended at times like a pub team in the first half made 3 changes at half time and all those subs had a real impact as they took control of the game and it became only a matter of time until they scored. A nice move and a ball between our centre backs allowed #Barkley to drift into the box un-challenged and sweep the ball past #Kasper. There was no initial reaction from #Leicester and #Chelsea continued to dominate and went looking for a second.

But as the half went on #Leicester began to see more of the ball and went in search of the equaliser to take the game into extra time. But once again they lacked sharpness, quality and ideas in the final third.. #Tielemans lost his footing when through and although #Caglar went close with a header that hit a #Chelsea defender on its way towards goal #Leicester limped out of the #FACup at the Quarter Final stage without using all their substitutes and a striker still on the bench!
